Country's third largest software services firm Wipro on Wednesday said it will acquire German IT consulting firm cellent AG for 73.5 million euros (about Rs 518 crore).

The all-cash deal is expected to close in the March 2016 quarter, Wipro said in a filing to the BSE.

Air India's first non-stop flight from New Delhi to San Francisco has landed here amid rousing welcome, becoming the first Indian airline to provide a direct air connection to the West Coast in the US.

The Air India flight AI 173, a B777-200LR aircraft, with 230 passengers on board landed here at 5:40 am on Wednesday with airport traffic control tower lit in Indian tricolor to welcome the flight to the city. The passengers applauded when the aircraft touched the ground.

The Indian Air Force has pressed into service three aircraft to evacuate hundreds of passengers stranded at the Chennai airport where operations were suspended due to heavy rains and water logging on the runway.

IAF sources said that the Force has received clearance from the authorities to ferry civilian passengers from Chennai to Delhi and the operations would begin post-noon today.

Bengaluru: United Spirits Ltd (USL) on Tuesday said HDFC Bank has sold 150,000 shares that the liquor maker’s chairman Vijay Mallya had pledged with the mortgage lender, for Rs.47 crore.

In a BSE filing, USL said HDFC Bank sold the shares pledged by Kingfisher Finvest to secure loans given to the holding company United Breweries Holding Ltd (UBHL).

McDowell Holdings, a unit of Vijay Mallya-led UB Group, on Wednesday said private lender Yes Bank had invoked shares of United Breweries Ltd (UBL) which formed only 0.16% of its holding.

Clarifying on reports that Yes Bank Ltd (YBL) had invoked shares worth Rs 778 crore accounting for 3.02% stake in United Breweries pledged by McDowell Holdings, the company said the invoked shares are actually worth Rs 39.48 crore only.

TVS Motor Company has dipped 6% to Rs 286 on the BSE after the company reported a single digit 2.43% year on year increase in total sales at 225,401 units in November 2015. The Chennai-based company had sold 220,046 units in the same month last year.

"Incessant rains for the past three weeks in Chennai have had an adverse effect on company's production during this period. The company suffered sales loss of approximately 15,000 units due to inclement weather", TVS Motor said in a statement.
