Mumbai: The market regulator is set to clarify what the term ‘control’ means in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) by pegging the shareholding threshold of an acquirer at 25%, two persons familiar with the development said.

The move is aimed at removing ambiguities that companies currently confront during takeovers, one of the two persons said, requesting anonymity.

New Delhi: The unravelling of an agreement between top executives of Ashok Leyland Ltd and Nissan Motor Co. to end their alliance led to the Indian company suing its Japanese partner in the first week of February, two Ashok Leyland executives said.

Around Rs.200 crore vendor liability figures quoted by Nissan are not in the joint venture’s books, one of these executives said, adding the overall liability figures are only around Rs.700 crore, far less than Rs.1,200 crore quoted by Nissan. Both executives requested anonymity.

ICICI Bank on Monday announced the 'iWork@home' initiative on the eve of International Women's Day, where women employees will now be allowed to work from home for a year, which can be extended.

The programme has a three-level security protocol which ensures that only the concerned employee is able to access the system. The second initiative is meant for women managers with young children up to the age of 3 years where the bank will foot the travel and stay cost of their children and the caregivers.

Ford India, the seventh largest player in the domestic passenger vehicle market, has emerged as the largest exporter in the month of February. The company shipped more cars than Hyundai and Maruti, the two top exporters in the April-February period.

With its low single-digit growth and expanded capacity following the commencement of Gujarat plant last year, exports have become critical for Ford. The American car maker shipped 11,823 vehicles to more than 50 destinations last month.

Axis Bank, India’s third-largest private sector lender, has decided to step up hiring. After going slow on hiring for two years, the lender would increase its headcount in the next financial year by 10 per cent, said Rajesh K Dahiya, group executive (human resources), Axis Bank.

The bank had increased its headcount to 42,420 in March 2014 from 21,640 in the corresponding month in 2010. The number of employees, though, fell in 2014-15, despite the bank increasing the number of branches from 2,402 to 2,589. By March 2015, the headcount dropped to 42,230. However, the employee base rose to 47,876 by December 2015.

Tata Motors, the country's biggest vehicle manufacturer, has signed an agreement with Pune-based Bharat Forge and General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) of the US, for the ministry of defence's (MoD’s) Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) programme.

Tata Motors will lead the consortium, with Bharat Forge as a partner. GDLS will bring its expertise in combat vehicle platforms. FICV is billed to be one of the army's biggest projects, worth $11 billion (Rs 78,000 crore).

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is mulling foreign listing in addition to self-listing in India after the issue was discussed during a call with the shareholders on February 12. This was further to the exchange’s board meeting held on February 8.

In 2013, the government had allowed unlisted companies to directly list on stock exchanges abroad without prior or simultaneous listing on Indian bourses. However, current norms for listing of exchanges do not talk about overseas listing.
