A consortium backed by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd. and India’s top engineering schools aim to launch its first ChatGPT-style service next month, a big step in the country’s ambitions to become a player in the field of artificial intelligence.
The BharatGPT group, encompassing an arm of India’s most valuable company and eight affiliated universities, offered a sneak peek of the large language model Tuesday during a technology conference in Mumbai.

Fintech major PhonePe on Wednesday announced the launch of its homegrown Indus Appstore specifically for the Indian market, in a bid to compete with global incumbents like Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
The Indus Appstore is PhonePe's attempt at creating a more competitive and localized mobile app store economy for India, which is already the world’s largest market for mobile apps.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) on Wednesday refuted the report which said that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has found that about Rs 2,000 crore may have been diverted from the company.
"Reports and rumours pertaining to accounting issues in co. are 'incorrect and false'," the company said as reported by news agency Reuters. "We are in the process of providing all comments requested by Sebi and has extended complete cooperation on all aspects."

Eminent jurist and senior advocate Fali S Nariman has passed away at the age of 95. He served as the president of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010 and was awarded the Padma Bhushan (1991) and Padma Vibhushan (2007), among India's highest civilian honours, for his contributions to the field of law.
Nariman was born on January 10, 1929, in Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar). He completed his education in law at the Government Law College in Mumbai and started his legal career in the early 1950s. Nariman quickly gained recognition for his exceptional legal acumen and advocacy skills.

Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has engaged in discussions in recent weeks regarding a potential acquisition of Dunzo, the hyperlocal delivery startup backed by Reliance Retail. However, complexities surrounding Dunzo's ownership structure have posed challenges in reaching an acquisition deal, according to a report by TechCrunch. The talks are reportedly still ongoing, with both parties still in negotiations.
This potential acquisition comes in the wake of a challenging period for Dunzo, which has faced difficulties in securing funding and meeting staff payroll obligations.

It could take three to six months to migrate all existing Paytm customers to another payments service provider, according to people in the know. The digital payments major, on the other hand, it has been learnt, is looking to apply for a third-party application provider (TPAP) licence from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
A TPAP license will ensure that Paytm users can continue to make digital payments via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

India’s market regulator has found a hole of more than $240 million in the accounts of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., dealing another blow to the embattled media firm less than a month after its merger with Sony Group Corp’s local unit collapsed.
As part of its investigation into the Zee founders, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, or Sebi, found that about Rs 2,000 crore ($241 million) may have been diverted from the company, said people familiar with the matter who did not want to be identified as the information is not public yet.

The finance ministry on Tuesday said that the Japanese government has committed a loan of 232.209 billion yen (about Rs 12,800 crore) for nine projects related to various sectors in India.
The projects included North East Road Network Connectivity, Project for Promoting Start-up and Innovation in Telangana, Project for the Construction of Chennai Peripheral Ring Road, Project for Promoting Sustainable Horticulture in Haryana and Project for Climate Change Response and ecosystem Services Enhancement in Rajasthan.

Authorities in Rajasthan have confirmed the recovery of the body of a 16-year-old IIT JEE aspirant after an exhaustive week-long search in the Chambal valley. Identified as Rachit Sondhiya, the teenager hails from Madhya Pradesh and is pursuing his studies in Kota, a renowned coaching hub attracting students nationwide, according to a report by NDTV. This is the fifth incident of a student's death in Kota this year.
