Building on its extensive engineering and R&D services experience, the alliance, announced on June 8, 2016, will help Wipro to deliver the full spectrum of 3D printing services including consulting, design optimisation, software & system integration, product management and testing services.

No one will buy Air India, says Gajapathi Raju

Air India’s “books are so bad” that nobody will buy it, even if the government wanted to sell off the national carrier, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said on Thursday.

Ruling out disinvestment in the carrier that has a debt of Rs 50,000 crore, Raju at the same time said the taxpayers’ money could not be committed “for eternity”.

Sebi to e-sell Sahara properties for Rs 1,000 cr

Capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) will sell 16 land parcels of the Sahara Group to recover dues through e-auction next month.

It has set a reserve price of Rs 1,898 crore for these properties. While SBI Capital Markets will conduct the e-auction on July 13, HDFC Realty will conduct one on July 15, said notices published by these agencies. They have been appointed to conduct the sale of Sahara properties.

RCom worst in telcos' call drop test at Hyderabad

Reliance Communications (RCom) fared the worst in a call drop rate test conducted by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) in Hyderabad, showed the results issued by the latter.

Trai had earlier said almost all operators failed the benchmark in a test at Delhi; it was so in Hyderabad, too. And, RCom's call drop rates were the highest — 4.8 per cent for its second-generation technology (2G) service and 5.5 per cent for the CDMA service. The company has reportedly been in the process of shutting its CDMA business and shifting its subscribers to 2G, 3G and 4G networks.

L&T said to pick banks for engineering-services unit share sale

Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India’s biggest builder of roads and power plants, has picked advisers to prepare an initial public offering of about Rs1,000 crore ($150 million) for its subsidiary L&T Technology Services Ltd., people with knowledge of the matter said.

The Mumbai-based conglomerate is working with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Bank of America Corp. and JM Financial Ltd. on the engineering-services unit’s listing, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private.

TVS Automobile Solutions Limited (TVS ASL), an aftermarket player and part of TVS Group, has made around Rs 75 crore investments in three start-ups (e-commerce, Big Data / Analytics & CRM and Internet of Things) to form a start-up ecosystem for its digital initiatives where the company will provide digital business solutions to vehicle and component manufacturers to enable them achieve customer satisfaction and higher market share in the $9.5 bn aftermarket space.

"We are investing around Rs 75 crore from internal accruals. We are expecting these businesses to generate a revenue of Rs 250 crore in the first three years," G Srinivasa Raghavan, Executive Director, TVS Automobile Solutions Ltd.

AmazonFresh, the e-commerce behemoth’s grocery service, will start operating in parts of north and east London today. Deliveries will first be available in 69 postcodes before expanding to other parts of the city.

AmazonFresh is only available to Amazon Prime subscribers who also pay a monthly fee of £6.99. This means Amazon Fresh will cost them about £84 ($121.85) a year—much less than the $299 annual membership fee charged in the United States, where the service has been available since 2007.

Rupee trades lower at 66.74 against US dollar

Mumbai: The Indian rupee on Thursday weakened against the US dollar after local equity markets fell over 200 points. The fall in Asian currencies also dampened the sentiment.

At 2pm, the home currency was trading at 66.74 against the dollar, down 0.13% from its previous close of 66.65. The rupee opened at 66.59 and touched a high of 66.55, a level last seen on 12 May.
