Oppo is not a name that is anything like as familiar as Apple, Xiaomi or Huawei worldwide, but there’s further proof that it is most definitely one to watch, according the findings of a new report.

That’s because the little-known phone-maker scooped the top spot for smartphone sales in China last year, for the first time, fractionally beating out its sister company Vivo and heavyweight Huawei. Apple and Xiaomi, two massive names, meanwhile, posted their first annual shipment declines, highlighting the different struggles that both companies face in The Middle Kingdom.

Mumbai: Finance minister Arun Jaitley announced in the budget last week that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp. Ltd (IRCTC) will list along with other government-owned railways enterprises soon. So how will a listed, profitable IRCTC with a Rs1,500 crore turnover stack up against its listed peers?

Telecom Commission has asked DoT to seek clarification from Trai on the Rs 3,050-crore penalty recommended by the watchdog on three service providers Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular for allegedly denying interconnectivity to newcomer Reliance Jio. “The Telecom Commission has asked DoT to seek clarification from Trai on 10-12 points, including whether the 90-day period was given to telecom operators for providing point of interconnection, method of calculating penalty of Rs 50 crore per circle etc,” an official source said.

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said that it has secured order for the installation of Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totalling 3.6 MW from Surat Municipal Corporation. While all the 10 identified areas of installation would be within the municipal limits of the city; 1MW energy will be required for Surat Smart City, BHEL said in a statement today. According to the statement, this is the single largest order for a Rooftop PV system won by BHEL and will be an important step in establishing the Maharatna company as one of the leaders in Rooftop PV system segment also.
