More good news for mobile users: Reliance Jio launches new monthly tariff plans starting at Rs 149

Reliance Jio has introduced more monthly tariff plans starting at Rs 149, ostensibly to capture the lower-end of the telecom user market, which could find its flagship tariff plans out of reach.

The new giant in the Indian telecom space has also introduced other tariff plans starting from as low as Rs 19 for one-day validity, and going up to Rs 9,999 for a year. Most plans on offer are available for both, prime and non-prime customers, but the prime customers will get more benefits, mainly in terms of data usage limits.

Ashok Leyland February sales grow 5% to 14,067 units

NEW DELHI: Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland today reported a 4.93 per cent increase in total sales at 14,067 units in February.

The company had sold 13,406 units in the same month last year.

Sales of heavy and medium commercial vehicles grew by 4.88 per cent to 11,329 units last month as against 10,801 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.

The Sensex left its two days of losses behind by recovering 230 points in early session on Wednesday, propped up by fresh buying triggered by positive GDP data for the December quarter amid favourable Asian cues.

The impact was such that even the broader NSE Nifty took back the 8,900-mark. The 30-share index, which had lost 149.65 points in the previous two sessions, was trading higher by 229.56 points, or 0.80%, at 28,972.88. All sectoral indices, led by realty, bank and metal, moved up, with gains of up to 1.29%.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Wednesday reported a 6% increase in total sales at 52,734 units in February.

The company had sold 49,729 units in February last year, HMIL said in a statement. Domestic sales were up 4% at 42,327 units during the month, as against 40,716 units in the year-ago period, the company said. Exports in February this year stood at 10,407 units, as against 9,013 units in the same month last year, a growth of 15.5%.

Retirement fund body EPFO has allowed full and final withdrawal of funds by the subscribers from their pension account without providing Aadhaar number.

"All those members filing claims for withdrawal of funds from their pension account would not be required to submit Aadhaar as mandated in an earlier order of the EPFO," a senior official said.

The country's largestcar-makerr Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Wednesday reported a 10.9 per cent increase in total sales at 1,30,280 units in February as against 1,17,451 in the year-ago month.

The company's domestic sales stood at 1,20,735 units, up 11.7 per cent from 1,08,115 units in February last year, MSI said in a statement.

Adding on to the rising issue of fake notes getting dispensed from ATMs across the country, a man, on Tuesday withdrew Rs 500 notes without serial numbers from a State Bank of India ATM in Domah, Madhya Pradesh.

Last week, another State Bank of India ATM in New Delhi dispensed a fake Rs 2000 note bearing 'Children Bank of India' instead of Reserve Bank of India. Recently, another incident involving an ICICI Bank ATM had come to light.
