Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister JP Nadda on Friday launched a Rs 500 crore scheme to strengthen India’s medical devices industry, focusing on critical areas such as manufacturing key components and accessories, skill development, support for clinical studies, development of common infrastructure, and industry promotion.
This initial outlay of Rs 500 crore will be for three years, up to financial year 2026-27 (FY27), according to a government communication.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has been targeted with a ransom threat, reportedly made directly to the Bandra police station in Mumbai from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. A young man identified as Faizan allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh, prompting the police to register a case and dispatch a team to Raipur for further investigation. Authorities traced Faizan’s location through an active phone number, reported NDTV.
This incident is not the first time the actor, fondly referred to as 'King Khan' by fans, has faced threats.

The Supreme Court on Thursday (November 7) ruled that officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have the authority to issue show-cause notices and collect duties under the Customs Act, 1962.
This ruling confirms that DRI officers qualify as “proper officers” under Section 28 of the Customs Act, enabling them to perform these functions. This decision is expected to allow the government to proceed with a significant number of pending tax recovery cases, collectively valued at over Rs 20,000 crore, which had previously been on hold due to legal disputes.

The Mumbai district election officer has said all establishments, businesses and other workplaces within the Brihanmumbai limits are mandated to grant leave to their employees for voting in the Maharashtra assembly polls on November 20.
Violations to this directive by employers will result in action under the Election Commission's guidelines, district election officer and Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said in a release issued on Wednesday.

The Reserve Bank on Wednesday made changes to the Know Your Customer (KYC) norms to align them with recent amendments carried out in the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules and revised certain existing instructions.
According to the Amendment to the Master Direction - Know Your Customer (KYC) Direction, 2016, regulated entities (REs) will have to apply the customer due diligence (CDD) procedure at the unique customer identification code (UCIC) level.
