Mahindra charged up on electric cars

With the government's ambitious plan to have all vehicles sold beyond the year 2032 to be electric, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), which has so far invested Rs 600 crore in the segment, aims to expand it in the next 2-4 years and has come up with plan EV 2.0.

Though M&M's immediate plan for the electric segment is to develop vehicles for mass mobility, there is also a blueprint for developing high-end niche products at a later stage, which would primarily be for foreign markets.

Anil Kumble's demand for fee hike prompts BCCI to invite applicants for Team India head coach

The BCCI on Thursday invited applications for head coach's post, sending a reminder to head coach Anil Kumble that he will not get an automatic extension after his current term expires at the end of Champions Trophy. Interested candidates can apply by May 31 and will be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.

TCS hits 9-month high; stock up 15% in May

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) moved higher by 2% to Rs 2,612 in intra-day trade, extending its Wednesday’s 1.5% gain on the BSE. The stock is trading at its highest level since August 19, 2016.

Thus far in the month of May, TCS has outperformed the market by surging 15% as compared to 1.9% rise in the S&P BSE Sensex.

Coal India wins tax-cut boost as environmentalists fret

State-run Coal India Ltd , saddled with millions of tonnes of unsold coal, is expected to be the biggest beneficiary of a controversial government decision to more than halve the sales tax on the fuel after a jump in local supplies.

The world's third-largest greenhouse gas emitting country said last Friday it would lower the duty on coal from July 1 and impose a new 18 percent tax on solar cells and modules as part of a broader tax overhaul.

Infosys will hire both freshers and experienced professionals in America

Infosys Ltd, the India-based computer services giant, on Wednesday touted its new strategy to hire and train 10,000 American workers over the next two years at the company's annual leadership meeting in San Francisco.

Infosys is the largest employer of workers under the U.S. H1-B visa program for skilled workers, which has been under fire as the Trump Administration moves to tighten a range of immigration laws. Many large companies hire so-called outsourcing firms such as Infosys to manage their computer operations.

SBI jumps onto hackathon bandwagon with Code For Bank

Coding enthusiasts have another hackathon to look forward to. State Bank of India has flagged off Code For Bank to drive digital banking innovation.

The hackathon is open to developers, start-ups and students in teams of up to five. Teams can register their ideas by May 29. The hackathon will be held between June 6 and 20. Applications have to be developed using SBI’s internal APIs (code), external APIs and a combination of both. Finalists stand a chance to win monetary rewards of ~1 lakh to ~5 lakh, said the bank in a statement.
