Sudan has denied India’s ONGC Videsh Ltd an extension of licence to operate an oilfield as it sought higher royalties and taxes to make up for revenue lost due to drop in oil prices. The licence for Block 2B expired last November and an automatic 5-year extension is available but Sudan, whose revenues have been hit with a drop in oil prices, wanted higher taxes and royalties before it agreed to the same, officials said.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to restrain Britannia Industries from manufacturing and selling its digestive biscuit NutriChoice Zero, an injunction sought by rival ITC which sells its biscuits under the brand Sunfeast Farmlite Digestive All Good biscuit. A bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi while issuing notice to Britannia said: “No injunction… we will examine it” on July 11, the next date of hearing.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while inaugurating the 100 ICICI digital villages here said: "The ICICI initiative should be followed by other banks in rural areas."

Coal India's production declines, sales grow in April

KOLKATA: Coal India on Tuesday said its production during April declined by 4.8 per cent to 38.44 million tonnes (mt) as compared to 40.09 mt produced in the year-ago month.

The miner reported its off-take grew by 6.1 per cent in April to 45.29 mt as against 42.45 mt sold in corresponding month in 2016.

Department of Telecom launches portal for info on mobile tower radiation

The Telecom Department today launched a portal that will allow people to track radiation emitted from mobile towers within a locality and check their compliance with the stipulated norms.

Launching the 'Tarang Sanchar' web portal, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha hoped the site will help in clearing "myths and misconceptions" about mobile towers and emissions from them.
