Mumbai: The rupee on Friday was trading marginally higher against the US dollar in mid-day trading session.

At 2.15pm, the rupee was trading at 64.09 a dollar, up 0.06% from its Thursday’s close of 64.13.The rupee opened at 64.16 a dollar.

New Delhi: The government plans road shows for Air India Ltd in India and abroad as it proceeds to sell the airline, according to a note it released on Thursday evening.

In its detailed tender requesting for proposals for engagement of advisers for strategic disinvestment in Air India and its subsidiaries, one of the tasks outlined for the adviser is of “conducting road shows in India and abroad”.

Markets regulator Sebi today imposed a penalty of Rs 4 lakh on ACI Infocom for failing to redress the two investor complaints within the prescribed time frame. The two grievances pertained to non-receipt of the shares of the firm by the complainants following a stock-split. After the stock split, the complainants were entitled to receive 1,000 shares each. However, they did not get the share certificates after splitting and complained to Sebi.

While the first complaint was forwarded to ACI Infocom through Sebi Complaints Redressal System (SCORES) in June 2013, the second one was sent to it in December 2013.

The benchmark BSE Sensex dropped by over 68 points in opening trade today, breaking its six- session winning streak due to profit booking in power, metal, consumer durables and healthcare stocks amid weak Asian leads after North Korea launched another missile over Japan.

The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Centre on a plea seeking complete ban on the Blue Whale Challenge and sought a detailed reply on the matter within three weeks.

Shares of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India were trading higher by up to 4% on BSE in otherwise subdued market on rising crude oil prices as demand outlook brightens.

ONGC rallied 4.4% to Rs 166, while OIL India gained 2% at Rs 325 on BSE in intra-day trade on Friday. So far in the calendar year 2017, ONGC (down 17%) and Oil India (down 6%) had underperformed the Sensex, which gained 21% till Thursday.

India's third largest software services firm Wipro today said it has bagged a seven-year contract from European energy company, innogy SE.

The financial details of the contract, which will see Wipro managing the data centre and cloud services for innogy SE, were not disclosed.

Coal India has planned to enter the metallurgical mining sector and has narrowed down on iron, copper, bauxite and nickel as the primary metals.

While a blueprint is being worked out, Chairman Gopal Singh has said that metal mining won’t hamper the targeted coal production of one billion tonne by 2020.

Warning that any move to lower the inter-connect usage charges (IUCs) would turn the entire telecom industry sick barring Reliance Jio, Aditya Birla Group-owned Idea Cellular on Thursday urged the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to put industry call minutes into two buckets for a “correct” assessment of costs and then decide on the merits of reducing IUCs.

In a written communication to the telecom regulator, Idea Cellular’s managing director, Himanshu Kapania, said the Trai should bifurcate current industry minutes into those terminating on the voice over long-term evolution (VoLTE) networks used by Jio, and other networks like 2G/3G and 4G used by Idea, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel.
