Market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) as well as stock exchanges have stepped up surveillance to keep a close tab on possible manipulations and excessive volatility in the markets ahead of assembly elections results in Karnataka.

The results of the single-phase assembly elections will be declared on May 15. However, before the formal announcement of the results, several agencies conducted exit polls, predicting the outcome.

The 72.13 per cent voter turnout in the Karnataka Assembly elections has broken all records and is the highest since the 1952 state polls, Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar said on Sunday. Women and young voters exercised their franchise in large numbers on Saturday, he told PTI.

“The voter turnout in the polls broke all records last night. By midnight, the figures showed that it was 72.13 per cent,” he told PTI here.

MUMBAI, May 12 (Reuters) - Walmart Inc said on Saturday in a filing with a U.S. regulator that it may take India's Flipkart public in as early as four years, detailing for the first time a potential listing timeline for Walmart's largest-ever acquisition.
