Assam Gang Rape Case: The prime suspect in a gang rape case in Assam died on Saturday, August 24 after a dramatic escape attempt. Tafazul Islam, who had been arrested on Friday, August 23, was in police custody when he tried to flee by jumping into a pond. The incident happened early in the morning while police were investigating the crime scene related to the case.

IT major Cognizant's subsidiary TriZetto has slapped a lawsuit on Infosys in a US federal court, accusing the Bengaluru-headquartered company of stealing trade secrets and information related to healthcare insurance software.

Infosys, in a statement, denied all allegations. The company asserted it is aware of the lawsuit and will defend its position in the court.

Autopsies of bodies of those who were killed after an India registered passenger bus plunged into a river some 110 kilometeres from Kathmandu on August 23 began on Saturday at a hospital in Bharatpur, a Nepal police official said today.

The postmortem is expected to be completed by 12 noon today after which the bodies will be handed over to authorities who will transport them by road via Sonauli border crossing of Bhairahawa, the official said, adding that it takes around four hours to reach Bhairahawa from Bharatpur by road.

Amazon India on Saturday announced an up to 12 per cent reduction in selling fees across multiple product categories on the marketplace ahead of the festive season.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday approached Kolkata High Court for permission to conduct a polygraph test on RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's ex-principal, Dr Sandip Ghosh, and four doctors after finding discrepancies in their statements during the investigation. A senior CBI official informed that they have approached the court for permission and after getting the permission, the polygraph test will be conducted.

"We will corroborate their statements with the result of the polygraph test to verify their statement given to the agency," the official added. The CBI official stated that the polygraph test would help verify their statements and corroborate evidence.
