Sebi fines 4 entities Rs 27 lakh for fraudulent trading in BSE stock options

New Delhi: Markets regulator Sebi on Friday imposed a total penalty of Rs 27 lakh on four entities for indulging in fraudulent trade in illiquid stock options segment of BSE.

Umapati Oil Mill and Ginning Factory, Yudhbir Chhibbar, Kasturbhai Mayabhai Pvt Ltd and Vimladevi Shyamsunder Khetan are the four entities, according to Sebi's separate orders.

IT company Infosys Friday said it would invest $10 million (nearly Rs 70 crore) in California-based artificial intelligence-focussed The House Fund II.

"The company announced today that it will be entering into an agreement with The House Fund II, LP, an AI-focused fund targeting start-ups from the University of California, Berkeley, committing to invest $10 million," the company said in a note.

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has set up a company — in Reliance Navi Mumbai Infra (RNMIL) — for real estate development.

As many as 41 people have died due to swine flu in Madhya Pradesh's Indore.

"From January till date, we sent 644 samples for tests, out of which 152 were positive and reports of 10 are yet to come. 41 deaths reported out of which 20 were from Indore city. Currently, 19 patients with swine flu are admitted," Praveen Jadiya, chief medical and health officer, Indore told ANI.

Mumbai: Snapping its eight-day winning streak, the BSE benchmark Sensex declined by over 222 points on Friday to end at 38,164.61 as investors booked profits after Fitch Ratings cut India's growth forecast.

The 30-share index opened on a positive note at 38,452.47, but soon succumbed to heavy selling pressure, touching an intra-day low of 38,089.36. It finally closed at 38,164.61, down by 222.14 points, or 0.58 per cent. On similar lines, the NSE Nifty shed 64.15 points, or 0.56 per cent, to finish at 11,456.90.
