Shares of state-owned Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) gained 4 per cent at Rs 899 on the BSE on Tuesday after the Ministry of Railways revised tariff of standard meals on static units in railway stations.

In an exchange filing yesterday, IRCTC said the Ministry of Railways had revised the tariffs.

The Indian Railways is likely to hike passenger fares for all trains and classes this week. The increase in fare may range from 5 to 40 paise per kilometer, according to a report in Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar.

The proposal had received approval from the Prime Minister's Office in November but announcement was reportedly delayed owing to the ongoing Assembly elections in Jharkhand.

The overall air quality in Delhi stood at 'very poor' on Tuesday with at Air Quality Index (AQI) floating at 363. Old Delhi's Chandani Chowk witnessed a 'severe' AQI of 466 while Mathura road saw 406. Adjoining Noida recorded a 'severe' air quality with the AQI standing at 447.

An AQI between 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 is marked as severe/hazardous.

Central Depository Services (India) Ltd on Monday said it has received approval from markets regulator Sebi for setting up its IFSC (International Financial Services Centre) branch at the GIFT City in Gujarat.
