MoS for the Union Ayush Ministry Shripad Naik on Wednesday said that his Ministry will clear its stance on pharmaceutical giant Patanjali's newly-launched ayurvedic drugs 'Coronil and Swasari' for the novel coronavirus after reviewing the report sent by it.

However, the Minister said that it is good that Baba Ramdev has given a new medicine to the country.

A senior official associated with yoga guru Ramdev, and co-founder of Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar claimed that all "standard parameters for Randomised Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trials" of Ayurvedic medicine Coronil were followed to a tee, and the information was conveyed to the AYUSH ministry.

The development comes after the Patanjali Ayurved Ltd was asked by the AYUSH ministry of government of India to take down advertisements encouraging the use of Coronil, which was launched on Tuesday, to treat coronavirus.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has posted a 13 per cent increase in its total income to over Rs 963 crore in 2018-19, mainly because of rise in earnings from fees and subscription income.

According to the annual accounts of Sebi, the total expenditure of the regulator also rose to Rs 492.34 crore for the year ended March 31, 2019, from Rs 414.46 crore in the previous financial year.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Sunday (local time) emphasised on a rapid increase in production of dexamethasone, a cheap steroid which after clinical trials has shown life-saving potential for critically ill Covid-19 patients.

According to researchers from Oxford University, a low-dose regimen of dexamethasone, which is typically used to treat certain forms of arthritis, severe allergies, asthma, and certain types of cancer, for 10 days was found to reduce the risk of death by a third among hospitalized patients requiring ventilation in the trial.
