As the number of patients affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) surges in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, the administration has ramped up measures to get a solid grip of the situation as soon as possible since the pandemic outbreak is spreading like wildfire across India. With an urgent action from the Yogi Adityanath-led state government, the Chief Medical Officer and the Additional Director of Medical and Family Welfare have both been removed from their posts with immediate effect, new individuals having replaced them.

Former Prime Minsiter Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Sunday evening after he complained of chest pain.

Singh was taken to the hospital at around 8:45 PM

According to reports, he has been kept under observation in the cardio-thoracic ward.

The Indian Railways is planning to gradually resume passenger train services from May 12, an official statement from the Ministry of Railways said.

Initially, the operations will resume for 15 pairs of trains (30 return journeys).

India and China had a heated confrontation a few days ago in north Sikkim and troops of both sides received injuries, army sources said on Sunday.

News agency PTI quoted official sources saying that a number of personnel on both sides sustained injuries as they exchanged punches. The troops disengaged after a dialogue at the local level, sources added.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in India crossed the 59,000-mark on Saturday, while the death toll is nearing the 2,000-mark as well. At 9 AM on this day, the COVID-19 tally in the country has reached 59,662 cases, which includes 39,84 are active cases; 17,847 cured, discharged, or migrated patients, and 1,981 deaths.
