With over 53,000 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count on Saturday (October 24) crossed the 78 lakh-mark, while the death toll has topped the 1.17 lakh mark as well.

At 9:30 AM on this day, the COVID-19 tally in the country has reached 78,14,682 cases, which include 6,80,680 active cases; 70,16,046 cured, discharged, or migrated patients, and 1,17,956 deaths.

Private sector lender YES Bank’s net profit rose sequentially to Rs 129 crore in the second quarter ended September 30 this year from Rs 45 crore in the first quarter ended June 30. The bank had posted a loss of Rs 600 crore in Q2 of the previous financial year.

In a shocking incident, the half-burnt body of a minor girl was found in the house of the accused at Punjab’s Jalalpur village in Tanda in the Hoshiarpur district on Thursday evening, the police said.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail on Friday approved to raise Rs 1,500 crore by way of preferential issue to Flipkart Investments Private Limited, a foreign portfolio investor, the company said in an exchange filing.
