Blood clots, lung injuries found in patients who have died of Covid: Study

Ten post-mortem examinations performed on patients with confirmed COVID-19 found that all patients had lung injuries and early scarring of the lungs as a result of the virus, as well as injury to their kidneys.

Nine patients also had thrombosis - a blood clot, in at least one major organ (heart, lung or kidney). The team was unable to investigate thrombosis in the tenth patient.

India's COVID-19 tally zoomed past 29 lakh, a day after it crossed 28 lakh, with asingle-day spike of68,898 infections, while the recoveries have increased to 21,58,946 on Friday taking the recovery rate to over 74 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The total cases of coronavirus infections mounted to 29,05,823, while the death toll climbed to54,849 with 983 new fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The Income Tax department on Friday said it has issued refunds worth Rs 88,652 crore to over 24 lakh taxpayers so far this fiscal.

This include personal income tax (PIT) refunds amounting to Rs 28,180 crore issued to over 23.05 lakh taxpayers and corporate tax refunds amounting to Rs 60,472 crore to over 1.58 lakh taxpayers during this period.

After Supreme Court had asked transfer of Sushant Singh Rajput's death case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Special Investigation Team of the central agency arrived in Mumbai on Thursday (August 20, 2020) evening (at 7.30 pm). They are currently staying at the DRDO guest house in Santacruz. The team has finalized the strategy for the investigation.

CBI Superintendent of Police Nupur Prasad, who is leading the team, has formed three teams to take the investigation forward, said sources.

Marking a year of the Chandrayaan-2 integrated module having been inserted into lunar orbit, the Indian space Research Organisation (ISRO) has released its initial set of technical and mission data. The agency said that though the soft-landing of the Lander was unsuccessful, the orbiter has completed 4400 orbits around the moon and all eight on-board instruments are performing well.

While the orbiter was meant to stay operational for one year, ISRO says that it has enough fuel for remaining in orbit for seven years.
