BHEL’s Q3 numbers had slightly better-than-expected execution but order inflow and backlog continued to belie weakness. Raw material (RM) to sales at 64.6% remains higher than our FY19e estimate of ~59%. Order backlog of R940 bn is inadequate to drive revenues much ahead of CSe of ~R330 bn in FY18e. >20% of order book is not likely to start near-term. Another ~20% (Yadadri) is still expecting clearances. Total executable book is lower as we expect that R210 bn of projects may not get cleared for execution near-term.

BHEL posts Rs 93 crore net in Q3; announces 40 per cent interim dividend

State-run engineering major BHEL today posted a net profit of Rs 93.54 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2016, on the back of higher income from power segment. The company had reported a net loss of Rs 1,084.96 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015. Total income increased to Rs 6,461.22 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2016, from Rs 5,498.07 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, BHEL said in a BSE filing.

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said that it has secured order for the installation of Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totalling 3.6 MW from Surat Municipal Corporation. While all the 10 identified areas of installation would be within the municipal limits of the city; 1MW energy will be required for Surat Smart City, BHEL said in a statement today. According to the statement, this is the single largest order for a Rooftop PV system won by BHEL and will be an important step in establishing the Maharatna company as one of the leaders in Rooftop PV system segment also.

GE Power India surged 7% to Rs 485 on the BSE in intra-day trade after the company received contract worth of Rs 271 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for supply of components and services for 2 thermal power projects in Tamil Nadu.

“The company has been awarded a contract worth approximately Rs 271.1 crore (i.e. approximately US $ 40 million) by Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) to supply components and services for the supercritical steam generator island packages,” GE Power India said in a BSE filing.

The state-owned BHEL today said that it has bagged a major order from Indian Railways for supply of IGBT-based traction converters.

"Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a major order for supply of 118 sets of IGBT-based traction converters for 3 Phase 6,000 HP electric locomotives," the company said in a statement.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has successfully commissioned the first unit of the 4x30 MW Pulichintala hydroelectric project (HEP) in Telangana. The greenfield project is being set up by TSGENCO in Guntur district of Telangana on the river Krishna. BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes design, manufacture, supply, supervision of erection, testing and commissioning of electrical & mechanical (E&M) package comprising four sets of 30 MW vertical Kaplan turbine & generator along with associated auxiliaries.

NEW DELHI: State-run power equipment maker BHEL has expanded its footprint in the international market by securing export orders for supply of industrial motors to the African nations of Togo and Benin.

Scancem International DA, Norway (Heidelberg Cement group) has placed the order for the motors for their cement plants, Ciments Du Togo S.A. & Cimbenin S.A, Benin, BHEL said in press release.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) registered a topline growth of 12 per cent at Rs 6,780 crore and posted a profit before tax of Rs 138 crore as against a loss of Rs 293 crore in the corresponding period last year. This is after 14 straight quarters of negative topline growth that BHEL has registered positive growth. The turnover of the company increased to Rs 6,780 crore in Q2FY17, from Rs 6,070 crore during the corresponding period last financial year.

State-run BHEL today said it has commissioned yet another 660 Mw coal-based supercritical thermal power unit in Uttar Pradesh.

"Notably, in the past 15 months, BHEL has added 4,300 Mw of power generation capacity in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The commissioning of the unit will result in significant improvement of electricity availability in the state of Uttar Pradesh," the company said in a statement.

BHEL bags two R&M hydropower orders worth Rs 430 crore

State-owned power equipment maker BHEL has bagged two renovation and modernisation (R&M) orders of hydropower plants worth Rs 430 crore, including one from NHPC.

"BHEL has secured R&M contracts of hydro electric plants (HEPs). The company has won orders worth around Rs 430 crore, for the R&M of the 6x60 MW Balimela HEP of Odisha Hydro Power Corp Ltd (OHPC) and the 3x60 MW Bairasiul HEP of National NHPC Ltd," the company said in a statement.
