BHEL enters into JV with Kawasaki Heavy Industries to build stainless steel metro coaches

Aimed at expanding its footprint in the urban transportation sector as part of its diversification initiatives, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has entered into a technology collaboration agreement with Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), Japan, for the manufacture of stainless steel coaches and bogies for metros. The technology collaboration agreement was signed by Amitabh Mathur, director (IS&P), BHEL and Makoto Ogawara, senior vice president, KHI in the presence of Atul Sobti, chairman and managing director, BHEL and Yoshinori Kanehana, President, KHI.

State-owned power equipment maker BHEL today said it has won Rs 233 crore order for a steam and power generation package from Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd (RFCL). “Valued at Rs 233 crore, the order has been placed on BHEL for setting up the package at RFCL’s fertilizer plant at Ramagundam in Telangana,” BHEL said in a press statement.

State-run BHEL today said its largest power project order in the international market, valued at Rs 10,000 crore, in Bangladesh has taken off. “Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL)’s largest ever export order, valued at Rs 10,000 crore, for setting up 1,320 MW (2×660 MW) Maitree Super Thermal Power Project in Bangladesh has taken off, following the issuance of the ‘Notice To Proceed’ by the developer,” the company said in a BSE filing.

NEW DELHI: State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has commissioned two units of 270 mega watt (MW) thermal power project in Maharashtra.

"Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has successfully commissioned two units of 270 MW at RattanIndia Nasik Power Ltd's 5x270 MW thermal power project, located at Sinnar in Nasik District of Maharashtra," the company said in a BSE filing.

New Delhi: State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) is planning to enter the aerospace sector.

India’s largest power generation equipment maker plans to collaborate with Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) for manufacturing space grade solar cells and partner for satellite launches. Bhel also plans to enter the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) business for aircraft engines.

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has commissioned the second 800-MW unit of Yeramarus thermal plant in Karnataka. The company had commissioned the first unit of 2×800 MW Yeramarus thermal power station located in Raichur district of Karnataka in March last, BHEL said in a statement. The project has been developed by Raichur Power Corporation Limited (RPCL), a joint venture with equity participation from Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) and BHEL.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned 250 MW unit based on eco-friendly circulating fluidised bed combustion (CFBC) technology, using low grade coal (lignite) as the primary fuel.

The 250 MW lignite based thermal unit is the second unit to be commissioned at Bhavnagar Energy Company Limited (BECL)'s 2x250 MW thermal power project, located at Padva village in Bhavnagar District of Gujarat. The first unit of the project was commissioned earlier in May 2016. The project is based on CFBC technology – an environment friendly technology to utilise India's large resource of low grade, high moisture lignite.

The lignite-based thermal unit, based on circulating fluidised bed combustion (CFBC) technology, is the second such facility to be commissioned at Bhavnagar Energy Company’s (BECL) 2×250 MW thermal power project at Padva in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, a BHEL statement said.

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has commissioned a 250 MW unit at the upcoming Bongaigaon thermal power station in Assam. “BHEL is executing the main plant package contract for setting up three coal-fired units of 250 MW each at Bongaigaon TPS of NTPC. Significantly, this is the highest rating coal-based power plant in the North-East region,” BHEL said in a statement. The first unit of the power plant was commissioned earlier by BHEL and is presently operational, while the third and final unit is in advanced stage of commissioning, the statement said.

It also marks Bhel's foray as a developer into the field of power generation. Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) and Bhel are the main equity partners of RPCL, the owner and operator of this power plant.
