Maruti Suzuki to increase vendor training centres to 400 by 2020

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) is looking to add 400 vendors to its suppliers’ training programme to enhance quality and production efficiency.

Under this programme, the company will assist 400 tier-1 suppliers on global best practices for training workforce by 2020. MSIL has so far established 90 Dojo centres – state-of-the-art facility for learning – to help vendors achieve greater operational efficiency.

New Delhi: Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corp. plans to expand production capacity by as many as 2.5 million cars a year in the decade to 2030 as it lays the groundwork to maintain its dominance in India, where it sells one in two cars.

The capacity expansion, the biggest ever planned by Suzuki or its local unit in India, will be divided into two phases, two people aware of the plans said, requesting anonymity. Suzuki will first expand its Gujarat plant by adding capacity to make 750,000 cars starting 2020.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday said it is asking customers of 52,686 new Swift and Baleno models to undertake a service campaign to inspect for a possible fault in brake vacuum hose.

New Swift and Baleno units manufactured between 1 December, 2017 and 16 March, 2018 will be covered in this campaign, MSI said in communication to customers on its website.

India's leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki has set up the first Institute of Driving Training and Traffic Research (IDTR) in Bihar and was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar.

This new IDTR will set standards for quality driving training and also impart driving training, theoretical and practical, to aspiring and existing drivers. Maruti Suzuki says that this initiative will focus on the ‘Train-the-Trainer’ model, to have a multiplier effect and upgrade the driving skills of a larger number of people.

The country’s top carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, on Friday reported 10 per cent growth in profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2018. Net profit for the three months stood at Rs 18.8 billion, lower than analysts’ expectations of over Rs 22 billion. The company said an increase in corporate tax rates affected profitability.

Maruti Suzuki also reported a record annual profit of Rs 77.21 billion for the year ended March 31.
