Maruti, Hyundai, Nissan exports hit a low gear

Rerouting of production, decline in some foreign markets and change of strategy have led to a fall in the share of the top passenger vehicle (PV) exporters of the country.

The share of Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and Nissan, the top three carmakers who control 86 per cent of PV exports, have collectively seen their share fall by a third to 53 per cent during the last three years.

Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday launched an automatic variant of its premium hatchback Elite i20 priced at Rs 9.01 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new variant comes with 1.4 litre petrol engine with four speed automatic transmission besides additional safety features like six airbags, speed sensing auto door lock and height adjustable front seat belts.

Hyundai India has silently introduced the Elite i20 with 6 airbags in the top-end trim of the hatchback in both petrol and diesel engines. The Korean car manufacturer has also launched a 4-speed automatic variant of the Magna which is priced at Rs. 9.01 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Elite i20 Asta (O) with 6 airbags carries a priced tag of Rs 7.75 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for petrol motor, while the diesel variant is priced at Rs. 8,99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Hyundai Motor registers 9% growth in 8 months of 2016

Hyundai Motor India had posted a growth of nine per cent in sales as compared to the industry growth of seven per cent in the first eight months of the year, said Y K Koo, managing director and chief executive of the company. The automobile company has seen a booking of 400 units of Elantra sedan in a few days till the end of August.

“We have sold 3,27,844 units in the past eight months and a nine per cent growth against the market growth of 7.5 per cent. We are ahead of the industry growth,” said Koo after inaugurating the company’s first Global Dealership Space Identity showroom in Chennai.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is planning to launch two new products to strengthen its position in becoming a modern premium brand. A modern premium brand is positioned in between the mass market and premium market.

The company has lined up four products to achieve this vision, of which two are already launched. Y K Koo, managing director and CEO, HMIL said that the products in the pipeline includes Tuscan, a SUV, which will be launched by October or November.

NEW DELHI: Korean auto major Hyundai today launched the all new Elantra priced upwards of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

While the petrol variants are priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 17.99 lakh, the diesel variants are tagged between Rs 14.79 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh.

Hyundai Motor India launched three new editions of its popular SUV Creta priced up to Rs 13.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) on Friday. "The introduction of three variants will add more value to the overall buying experience for customers," Rakesh Srivastava Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement.

The vehicle will now also be available in Anniversary edition (SE), Executive variant (E+) and S+ diesel automatic version.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Friday said it will increase prices by up to Rs 15,000 across models from August 16 to offset rising input costs and impact of rupee depreciation.

"The rupee depreciation and the increase in input costs have impacted our overall cost. We have been absorbing most of the cost. Now, we have been compelled to increase prices," Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) Senior Vice-President (sales & marketing) Rakesh Srivastava told PTI.

The company had sold 52,062 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement.

Government today exhorted the country's second largest car maker, Hyundai Motor India, to set up its third manufacturing plant here without hesitation as steps are being taken by the Centre to improve business environment and push manufacturing.

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said it is, however, up to the company to decide on the plant's location.
