The top management at Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) believes the tractor industry will grow at a much faster of 12-14% y-o-y in 2018-19 than the earlier anticipated 8-10%. The optimism stems primarily from the fact that the monsoon could be a good one and comes on the back of two good monsoons in 2017 and 2016.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Tuesday reported a 67% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profits at Rs 1,257 crore for the three months to June, driven by a smart increase in revenues. It may be recalled that Q1FY18 was the pre-GST quarter during which companies stayed light on inventories. The company’s revenue rose 23% year-on-year to Rs 13,358 crore, driven by increase in volumes of 5.6% year-on-year in SUVs and a smart 19% year-on-year jump in the volumes of tractors.

Italian-American automotive major Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has filed a trade complaint seeking to stop Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) from selling an off-road vehicle that it recently launched in the US, alleging that the Indian vehicle had ripped off designs from its iconic Jeep.

Mahindra electric KUV100 (eKUV 100) SUV will be the first ever all-electric SUV to be launched in India with its launch scheduled in May/June 2019. Earlier in 2017, Dr Pawan Goenka had confirmed KUV100 going all-electric and the SUV was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. Mahindra’s Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), the commercial vehicle arm of Mahindra Group, on Tuesday unveiled its new range of intermediate commercial vehicles (ICVs) called Furio, in a bid to increase its market presence in the commercial vehicles (CVs) segment.

Under the range, MTBD will be launching 21 products ranging from 6.5T to 16T, seven of which will be launched with BS-IV engine and the rest complying with BSVI norms.

Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) were quoting higher for the fifth straight trading days, hitting new high of Rs 940, up 2% on the BSE, after the government last week increased the minimum support price (MSP) of kharif crops for 2018-19.

Home-grown auto major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) on Monday reported 22 per cent rise in total tractor sales to 40,529 units in June.

It had sold 33,093 units in June last year.
