Markets are trading lower in today’s session as the Consumer price index- (CPI) based inflation for June jumped to a four-month high of 5.4%, mainly driven by higher than expected food inflation dampening the hopes of a further rate cut.

Meanwhile, investors remain cautious ahead of the WPI numbers due to be released later during the day.

Markets have recovered from the lower levels and are trading marginally positive led by pharma shares. However, the upside is capped due to selling among index heavyweights like Tata Motors, RIL and HDFC.

At 10:40AM, the 30-share Sensex was up 11 points at 27,972 and the 50-share Nifty was up 2 points at 8,462.

The BSE Sensex has turned flat after opening over 120 points up in morning trade on Monday. Sensex had surged by nearly 130 points in early trade on continued buying by investors amid hopes of rate cut by the Reserve Bank after weak IIP numbers. Nifty recaptured the 8,400-mark by rising 44.25 points, or 0.52 per cent, at 8,404.80.

At 10.13 am, Sensex was up 13.92 points at 27,675.32. Similarly, Nifty was up 4.45 points at 8,365.00 during the same time.

BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty rocked in volatility ahead of Industrial Production data (IIP). The benchmark BSE Sensex gained.

87.74 points up to end at 27,661.40 after a choppy trade. NSE Nifty gained 32.00 points to close at 8,360.55.

BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were butchered in last session under influence of Chinese free fall. Today, the start is likely to be cautious and some stabilization can be expected after the steep fall.

Traders will be getting some support with global rating agency Standard & Poor’s statement that the confidence level in India continues to grow amid indications of slower growth ahead for the Asia-Pacific region.

The benchmark BSE Sensex cracked the 28,000-mark by tumbling 500 points today on across-the-board selling by participants, tracking more heavy losses in Shanghai and on fears about Greece’s future in the Eurozone.

At 11:56 am, BSE Sensex trades 485.89 points down to 27,685.80. NSE Nifty sinks 143.00 points down at 8,367.80.

Continuing its winning run for the third straight session, the benchmark BSE Sensex gained over 122 points in early trade today on sustained across-the-board buying by participants amid a rebound in Asian markets.

At 10:58 am, Sensex was up 73.41 points at 28,282.17 . Similarly, Nifty was up 24.85 points at 8,547.00 during the same time.

Coal India, Bajaj Finance, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Dabur India, Britannia Industries, BEML and SRF are among 143 stocks that have touched their respective 52-week highs on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in this session.

Bajaj Finserv, Emami, Essar Oil, Karnataka Bank, Oracle Financial Services Software, TV18 Broadcast and Welspun Corp are prominent stocks from the A group to hit 52-week highs.

The benchmark BSE Sensex remained in the negative terrain and was down over 240 points on Monday morning following selling pressure in metal, banking, IT, auto, teck, power and FMCG sectors triggered by weak Asian stocks amid Grexit fears.

At 11.36 am, Sensex was down 246.81 points at 27,845.98. Similarly, Nifty was down 68.95 points 8,415.95 during the same time.

The benchmark Sensex rose over 150 points to trade above the 28,000 mark in mid-session trade today as value-based buying in consumer durables, healthcare, power, capital goods and auto sectors took the recovery forward.

With this, the index brushed off losses in other Asian markets ahead of the Greece referendum.
