TVS Motor Company today reported a 4% increase in total sales at 2,02,086 units in December.

The Chennai-based company had sold 1,94,481 in the same month last year.

TVS Motor Company has dipped 6% to Rs 286 on the BSE after the company reported a single digit 2.43% year on year increase in total sales at 225,401 units in November 2015. The Chennai-based company had sold 220,046 units in the same month last year.

"Incessant rains for the past three weeks in Chennai have had an adverse effect on company's production during this period. The company suffered sales loss of approximately 15,000 units due to inclement weather", TVS Motor said in a statement.

Emerald Haven Realty Ltd., an associate company of TVS Motor Company, will shortly announce its second residential project in a southern suburb of Chennai with an eye to tap the emerging opportunity in the GST (Grand Southern Trunk) corridor.

TVS Motor Company has surged nearly 7% to Rs 292 on the NSE after the two-wheeler maker reported 14% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in total sales at 274,622 units in October 2015, the highest sales growth in past six months. The company had sold 241,044 units in the same month last year.

Earlier, in April 2015, the company had reported 14% y-o-y jump in total sales.

TVS Logistics Services Ltd (TVSL), a subsidiary of Chennai-based TV Sundaram Iyengar and Sons Ltd, is planning to go public by 2016. The firm has met about five-to-six investment bankers and started talks over a possible initial public offering (IPO), according to two persons familiar with the plans. TVS Logistics provides supply chain management, inbound and outbound logistics and warehousing services.

The management has talked to a few Indian as well as foreign investment banks as part of going public, said the first person.
