Aera Energy LLC (Aera), a California limited liability company, is one of California’s largest oil and gas producers, accounting for approximately 30% of the state’s production. With headquarters in Bakersfield, most of Aera’s production is centered in the San Joaquin Valley. Aera Energy LLC also has oilfield operations in the L.A. Basin and in Ventura and Monterey Counties. Aera produces approximately 160,000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of natural gas each day and has proved oil and gas reserves equivalent to approximately 800 million barrels of oil. Prior to December 31, 2001, American Natural Energy Corporation activities, conducted entirely through our predecessor, Gothic, were not significant and involved very limited oil and natural gas exploration in the southern United States. Since December 31, 2001, we have engaged in several transactions which we believe will enhance our oil and natural gas development, exploitation and production activities and our ability to finance further activities. ANEC works in tandem with partner Exxon Mobil to develop this Louisiana project. In 2007 the company sold 75% of ANEC's development rights in this project to Dune Energy.

Aminex is an international oil and natural gas exploration and production company with operations in the US, Africa, and North Korea. In the US it operates along the Texas Gulf Coast area. Aminex PLC owns Tanzoil NL, the largest holder of exploration acreage in Tanzania. Its completion of a well in the East Songo Songo/Nyuni area in Tanzania in 2004 was the first offshore well in East Africa for more than a decade. Aminex PLC also has operations in Egypt and Kenya. Aminex PLC has acquired a 10% stake in a North Korean resources company, Kobril Ltd. Aminex also owns AMOSSCO Ltd, an international oilfield service, supply, and logistics company.

Anadarko is the largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies in the world, with approximately 2.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BBOE) of proved reserves at year-end 2009. The company, the largest foreign oil producer in Algeria, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum, and has production facilities and other operating units located in the Algerian Sahara Desert. Anadarko Algeria accounts for about 15% of its parent's total revenues. Anadarko Algeria Company works closely with state-owned powerhouse Sonatrach. Anadarko Algeria is part of Anadarko Petroleum's International/Frontier division, which also oversees exploration and production activities in Brazil, China, Indonesia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
