Bertelsmann Stiftung
Bertelsmann Stiftung is a private charitable foundation that invests in projects of its own conception. Funding is provided primarily by income from the majority stake the foundation holds in Bertelsmann AG. Its Carl Bertelsmann Prize is awarded to projects focused on economic and social reform. The foundation also provides funding for projects related to corporate social responsibility, culture exchange, and education. In addition to its German headquarters, Bertelsmann Stiftung operates offices in Brussels and Washington, DC. It was founded in 1977 by former CEO Reinhard Mohn. Mohn was the head of the fifth generation of his family to lead the Bertelsmann group of media companies.
