Pendleton Woolen Mills, Inc.
Founded in 1909 as a blanket maker for Native Americans, it also sells its products through department stores, including Dillard's and Macy's, and in specialty shops, as well as through catalogs and online. Pendleton's goods are sold in the US, Canada, China, and Japan. The sixth generation of the Bishop family owns and operates the firm. Pendleton Woolen Mills controls every other step of the production of its men's and women's apparel, blankets, pillows, luggage, furniture, and other items. It buys raw wool; makes fabric and garments at its Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington factories; ships finished goods; and even sells the products in about 70 Pendleton shops.
