American Hotel Register Company was founded in 1865 to sell hotel guest registers. It was acquired by Thomas Leahy in the early 1900s and his descendants still own and operate the company. The company supplies hotels of all sizes with more than 50,000 products, including toiletries, cleaning products, appliances, furniture, carpeting, drapery, linens, and embossed items. It also caters to funeral homes, health care facilities, government offices, and military institutions. American Hotel Register sells its products through its 2,000-page catalog and its Web site.

American Nutrition, Inc. was founded in 1972 by the late Jack Behnken. American Nutrition company makes more than 300,000 tons of dry and wet food and snacks for dogs and cats annually. Its products are sold under such brand names as Atta Boy, Atta Cat, Basic Plus, Natural Harmony, and Vita Bone. ANI also produces premium biodegradable cat litter. In addition to making its own products for dogs and cats, the company provides contract pet food manufacturing services. It operates production facilities in Arizona, Utah, and Washington.

American Safety Razor's primary products include value-priced brand-name and private-label shaving razors and blades. It also makes bladed hand tools (carpet knives, paint and window scrapers) and specialty industrial and medical blades. ASR sells its wares under such brands as Bump Fighter, Burma-Shave, Personna, and about 30 others. It has sales offices in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and manufacturing plants in the US, Brazil, and Mexico. London's Lion Capital, a private equity firm, acquired ASR in mid-2006.
