Volvo Car Corporation
Rudyard Kipling wasn't driving a Volvo when he wrote, "East is east, West is west, and never the twain shall meet." Clearly the two did meet when China's Zhejiang Geely Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. (owned by Geely Automobile Chairman Li Shu Fu) purchased Swedish carmaker Volvo Car Corporation from Ford Motor in mid-2010 for about $1.3 billion. Volvo Car Corporation continues to produce a handful of passenger car models, including the S-Range sedan, V-Range spacious estate, XC-Range cross country, and C-Range coupe, from manufacturing facilities in Sweden and Belgium, as well as in Malaysia and China. Volvo cars are sold in more than 100 markets through a network of some 2,000 dealers.
