The company accepts hazardous, polychlorinated biphenyls, industrial and low-level radioactive waste, naturally occurring and accelerator produced radioactive materials, and low-activity radioactive materials, as well as provides waste treatment and disposal facility services. It offers its services to commercial and government entities, such as refineries and chemical production facilities, electric utilities, manufacturers, steel mills, and medical and academic institutions. The company was formerly known as American Ecology Corporation and changed its name to U.S. Ecology, Inc. in February 2010. U.S. Ecology, Inc. was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Boise, Idaho.
