One- to four-family mortgages make up more than half of the company's loan portfolio; commercial real estate, consumer, home equity, and business loans round out the bank's lending activities. Rome Savings' deposit products include checking, money market, and savings accounts; certificates of deposit; and IRAs. Rome Bancorp is being acquired by Massachusetts-based Berkshire Hills Bancorp (which is also buying Legacy Bancorp in a separate transaction) for $74 million.

S & U PLC is a provider of consumer credit and auto loans throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. Operating branches and divisions include Wilson Tupholme (catering to Northeast England and Scotland), S D Taylor (Northwest England), and auto finance subsidiary Advantage Finance. The lending company owns and operates about 15 facilities throughout the UK. S & U targets borrowers with iffy credit histories who have been rejected by mainstream lenders.

Salisbury Bancorp has a stake in New England's financial market. The holding company owns the Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, which operates seven branches in northwestern Connecticut, southwestern Massachusetts, and southeastern New York. With roots dating to 1848, the bank offers a variety of financial products and services, including checking, savings, and money market accounts, CDs, credit cards, and trust services. Residential real estate mortgages make up the largest portion of the bank's loan portfolio by far; commercial real estate, construction, land development, business, financial, agricultural, and consumer loans round out its lending activities.
