Boston Medical Center (BMC) offers a full spectrum of health care services, from prenatal care and obstetrics to surgery and rehabilitation. BMC is also the city's largest provider of indigent care, spending millions of dollars annually on care for uninsured patients and offering free screenings and other community outreach programs. The not-for-profit hospital boasts about 640 licensed beds, 1,300 physicians, and includes a Level 1 trauma center, acute rehabilitation facilities, and neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. The center is the primary teaching hospital of Boston University's School of Medicine.
