Biocompatibles International plc
Biocompatibles International operates under a concept of developing technologies that combine medical devices and therapeutic drugs. Several of its products, such as its DC Bead and LC Bead products, use proprietary polymer beads loaded with chemotherapy drugs to fight cancer; the beads are delivered to tumor locations during a minimally invasive procedure. The company has distribution agreements with AngioDynamics (in the US), Terumo Medical (Europe), and SciClone Pharmaceuticals (China). Device maker Medtronic uses the company's PC Technology platform in its Endeavor drug-eluting coronary stent. INVESCO holds a 25% stake in Biocompatibles.
