WTA Tour, Inc.

WTA Tour regulates the sport as a member of the International Tennis Federation and it sanctions more than 50 tennis events each year in more than 30 countries. Boasting more than 2,200 players from more than 95 different countries, the association markets the game and its players and generates revenue through merchandising, sponsorships, and selling broadcasting rights to its events. The WTA Tour was founded in 1973 when a number of top players, including Billie Jean King, decided to take the sport from an amateur level to professional.
