Mr. R. William "Bill" Becker owns Peace River Citrus Products, Inc., which owns two processing plants with a total processing capacity of 18 to 20 million boxes. The Arcadia plant started production in November 1994 and the Bartow plant began production in November 2003. After selling his part of a family citrus business in 1991, Mr. Becker began studying the future of the Florida citrus industry. This study indicated a lack of citrus processing facilities in the new citrus growing region of Florida. The Peace River Citrus Products, Inc. Arcadia plant was built in the town of Arcadia, Desoto County, Florida. Arcadia was chosen because it was positioned in the center of the new growing region and there were no processing plants within 50 miles. Mr. Becker furthered his position in the citrus processing industry with the purchase of the plant in Bartow, Polk County, Florida in October 2002. The plant in Bartow will process both oranges and grapefruit (white and red) while the plant in Arcadia will primarily be dedicated to processing oranges. The mission of Peace River Citrus Products, Inc. is to produce the highest quality citrus products, market them at competitive prices, provide superior customer service, and maximize returns to Florida citrus growers. With this mission in mind, Mr. Becker maintains his processing facility with state of the art equipment utilizing a cost efficient layout.
