Aegean Airlines provides regional passenger services to 46 destinations across Germany, Italy, and southeastern Europe (excluding Spain and Ireland), and it recently started flying across the Mediterranean to Cairo. Chairman Padraig O'Ceidigh owns a controlling stake in the company, which he acquired in 1994. Aer Arann began operations in 1970 to fly between Galway and the Aran Islands, off Ireland's western coast.

Flying to or from Russia might very well mean a flight on Aeroflot - Russian Airlines, the nation's leading air carrier. Aeroflot flies to more than 90 destinations in about 45 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America from its hub at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport. It extends its international network as a member of the SkyTeam code-sharing and marketing alliance, which includes such carriers as Air France, Delta Air Lines, and KLM. Life is a cabaret for Air Berlin. The low-fare carrier, which ranks behind only Lufthansa among German airlines, transports passengers to about 20 cities in its home country, plus about 115 destinations elsewhere in Europe and in northern Africa. Air Berlin also has code-sharing agreements with Russia's S7 Airlines, China's Hainan Airlines, and Austria's NIKI to fly to Moscow, Beijing, and Vienna. Europe's third-largest airline operates a fleet of more than 135 aircraft, mainly Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s, from hubs in Berlin, D?orf, and the Spanish island of Majorca.
