Societe Internationale de Plantations d'Heveas
Societe Internationale de Plantation d'Heveas (SIPH) never gets "tired" of rubber. The company owns rubber plantations in West Africa and supplies Michelin (which owns 20% of the company) with natural rubber to make tires. SIPH owns about 125,000 acres of plantation land mostly in Ivory Coast, but also in Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia. However, about half of the 128,000 tons of rubber it produces comes from independent planters in those countries. SIPH also owns eight production sites in West Africa to market the rubber latex for export to Europe. The French/African agribusiness firm SIFCA Group owns more than 55% of the company.
