William Randolph Hearst Foundation
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation is one of two foundations (the other being The Hearst Foundation) created by their namesake, publisher William Randolph Hearst. The William Randolph Hearst Foundation was established in 1948 as the California Charities Foundation and changed its name in 1951. Both foundations share a headquarters in New York, but the two entities divide the US in half to organize giving activities: The Hearst Foundation receives any grant requests or proposals made from organizations east of the Mississippi, and the former California Charities Foundation takes any applications from the western US. Philanthropic interests include culture, education, health, and social service.
