Tianjin Development Holdings Limited
Tianjin Port Development Holdings Limited ("Tianjin Port Development" or the "Company") was listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the "Stock Exchange") on 24 May 2006 (Stock Code: 03382). The Company, together with its subsidiaries (collectively known as the "Group") first operated as a non-containerised cargo terminal at the port of Tianjin in 1968 and subsequently expanded into the container handling business in 1980. In February 2010, the Group completed the acquisition of 56.81% equity interest in Tianjin Port Holdings Co., Ltd., a dominant port operator at the port of Tianjin, which is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The port of Tianjin is at the prime geographical location situated at the juncture of the Beijing-Tianjin city belt and the centre of the Bohai Rim Region, and the vast hinterland covering 14 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Beijing and Tianjin, and is the logistics hub of Tianjin Binhai New Area. In 2009, the port of Tianjin was the third largest port in China and the fifth largest port globally in terms of total throughput.
