The libations of the Royal Wine Corp. are never passed over. The company produces, imports, and distributes kosher wine, grape juice, and spirits. It owns and operates two wineries, both of which are located in the US -- the Herzog Wine Cellars, in Oxnard, California and the Kedem Winery, in Marlboro, New York. In addition to making its own wines, Royal imports both wine and spirits from 18 other countries. Wine is the company's strong suit, however -- it sells more than 1 million cases of wine and grape juice annually. The Rutherford Ranch Winery is on the site of the original Round Hill Winery started in the 1970’s by Ernie and Virginia Van Asperen. When the Van Asperen’s retired in 2000, Marko and Theo Zaninovich, long-time share holders with the Van Asperen family, acquired the winery. The estate vineyards were replanted with superior vines and the winery and Tasting Room have undergone significant renovations. Before there was a company, there was a drink. Antoine Peychaud, a Creole immigrant, operated a pharmacy on the French Quarter's Royal Street in 1838. With his background as an apothecary, he was a natural mixologist. His friends would gather for late-night revelry at his pharmacy.
