The year 1985, one Indian and three British instigated High Places. An Outdoor Venture that offered adventure holidays, high altitude treks in the Himalayas in Ladakh, Garhwal and Sikkim for its European clients. This was also the time of our introduction to OMDP's in UK. With this vast experience in India and abroad, the first ever Management Development Program in India using outdoors as a medium was conducted in 1989. This also was the beginning of High Places India as a separate entity. Few outdoor enthusiasts joined up to mark the beginning of this unique methodology that happens to be one the emergent medium for various training needs today. Mr. Roopu Negi our company founder, a skiing fanatic in his early days and One of the founder members of the first Skiing club (Winter Sports Club) in Manali. . He won the best skier award in 1978 and remained in serious skiing till 1986. In late seventies and early eighties, he made small climbing expeditions in the mountains around Manali and also skied down the mountain peaks of Patalsu and Brighu. After completing his graduation he started The Himalayan Adventurers in 1986, one of the first Adventure and cultural tour Operating Company in Manali. He was the first to operate the Grand Western Himalayan Jeep Safari from Shimla to Ladakh in 1993. which is now a well-known tour circuit in the Western Himalayas. He has Traveled extensively all over the Western Himalayas, including Zanskar, Ladakh and Spiti, Garhwal and the remote areas of Himachal and Has made a deep study of these areas, their unique and ancient culture and traditions. Now actively involved in promoting new and unexplored areas in the Western Himalaya. he has grown up with the company to see it evolve as one of the best adventure and travel company in the region.

Himalayan Frontiers was conceived in 1996 and an effective infrastructure was set up in the foot of the Himalayas (Manali) in Himachal Pradesh, India. Responsible for settling up operational activities in Manali is Mr. Gopi Chand who is in field of adventure tourism since 1979. Established routes were mapped again while newer trails were reconnoitered. A wider area of operation was incorporated in our schedule . The first objective of Himalayan Frontiers was to establish a sound footing in responsible adventure tourism. Over the years we had lead numerous adventure groups with safety and preservation of the fragile Himalayan ecology as essential components. Today Himalayan Frontiers has compiled an extensive treks and tours list which involve active interaction with the local inhabitants and exposure to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Western and North Eastern Himalayas besides the culturally rich Rajasthan and other parts of India and Bhutan.
