Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts & Science
The Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts & Science was established in June 1937; it was the first college in Mumbai to be started by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. The college was declared open formally by H.E. Sir Roger Lumley, the then Governor of Bombay, on 3rd December 1937. A large part of the credit for the establishment of this institution goes to Mataji Suvratadevi Ruia and her illustrious son, Seth Ramnivas Ramanarain Ruia, who negotiated a handsome donation from the Ramnarain Harnandrai Charitable Trust. In recognition of this gesture, the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali (the management body) named the institution.
