The company has registered a sales of Rs 7714.68 lacs for the fiscal ended March 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 6984.94 lacs in previous year. During the year under review despite adverse market conditions in the Cement Industry, the Company has performed satisfactorily. The Power Division viz.. Mini Hydel Project at GBC Narsaraopet and Wind Farm at Ramagiri have also contributed. The Slag Cement Plant with capacity of 3,00,000 TPA has been commissioned during the year and commercial production also commenced. Poor inflows into Nagarjunasagar has badly affected the profitability of Deccan Cements Limited, which has already been suffering from uneconomical price realisation for the cement in the state. The company runs a 3.75 mw mini hydel power plant on Guntur Branch Canal (GBC), under the Nagarjunasagar project. Deccan Cements set up the first mini hydel power project in the private sector in the state in 1995. |
