Even the advent of television did not make a serious impact to the popularity of films as most of the television programmes were also film based. The entry of Zee TV into this industry also provided a fillip to the Industry. Soon after this, other private channels such as Sony Entertainment Television, EL TV, ATN, Jain TV, Sun TV, niche players like Star Sports and ESPN for Sports, Discovery Channel and National Geographic for informative and educational programmes etc entered the market. But even today films enjoy the same kind of patronage as it enjoyed prior to this phase. With the current trend about 45-50 quality, Hindi Films are being produced in a year.
