It all started with 'The Dhanuka Group' in 1976, that made an entry into petrochemicals in Raichur, Karnataka (India), when Mysore Petro Chemicals Ltd. (MPCL) started manufacturing Phthalic Anhydride. IG Petrochemicals Ltd. (IGPL) set up shop at Taloja near Bombay (Maharashtra), in 1991, producing Phthalic Anhydride. And MPCL went into production of Maleic Anhydride at the same time in Taloja. These petrochemicals are used to manufacture products which are essential for the production of - plastic, flexible PVC, varnish, paint, textile dyes, pesticides and much more. To meet the rising global demand of high quality Phthalic Anhydride, IGPL undertook a major expansion of their existing plant and production capacity in 1997. In technological partnership with Lurgi and Wacker Chemie GmbH, from Germany, IGPL now has a production capacity of 120,000 MT from 45,000 MT per annum. It is one of the largest and most modern continuous process Phthalic Anhydride manufacturing plants in the world.
