LIC picks 3% additional stake in BoI for Rs 451 crore

Insurance behemoth LIC has bought an additional stake of over 3 per cent in public sector Bank of India for about Rs 450.88 crore.
The Bank of India sold 33,500,000 shares equivalent to over 3.12 per cent equity to LIC through an open market purchase on a preference shares allotment on June 28, 2017, as per the bank's regulatory filing.
Calculated on the stock weighted average price (WAP) of Rs 134.59 apiece on June 28, the valuation of the deal comes at over Rs 450.87 crore.
With this, Life Insurance Corporation's (LIC) stake in the bank has gone up to 14.25 per cent from the earlier 11.13 per cent. Stock of Bank of India today closed 0.11 per cent up at Rs 140.80 on BSE.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Friday that the state government has undertaken a multi-pronged plan for the development of tourism in Tripura. He said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 692 crore has been signed by the Tripura Tourism Department for the construction of ropeways.

A petition has been filed in the High Court of Karnataka, seeking a CBI probe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam.
Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna on Friday said that they have filed a writ petition and are seeking High Court directions to handover the case to the CBI to carry out a fair investigation in the writ petition.

About 12 textile companies are set to receive the first set of incentive payment under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
“Around 40 companies have grounded investment. We had a gestation period till March 2024.We hopethis financial year 10-12 companies will be getting incentive payout (under PLI),” a senior government official said on Friday.

The Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday confirmed that Sunil Jakhar continues to lead the party in the state, calling rumours of his resignation "totally baseless". Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin confirmed that Jakhar, 70, was leading the party.
The BJP’s reaction followed hours after media reports claimed that Jakhar had reportedly resigned. The news had particularly raised eyebrows in view of the upcoming panchayat elections in the state scheduled for October 15.
