SC fines Kerala govt. for 'frivolous plea'

The Supreme Court on issued notice on ousted police chief T.P. Senkumar's contempt plea against the State's Chief Secretary, Nalini Netto, for not issuing the official orders re-appointing him to the helm of the police force.
“This is in bad taste. This proves the allegations of malafide against you”, the court observed while reacting to Kerala government’s admission in the court that Mr. Senkumar was never State police chief.
The apex court slapped 25,000 costs on Pinarayi Vijayan govt for the frivolous plea that Mr. Senkumar was not State Police Chief but only ‘Head of the Police Force’.
The Supreme Court had on April 24, 2017 directed the Kerala government to appoint Mr. Senkumar to the post.
A separate review petitions has also been filed by the State challenging the Supreme Court judgment.
