Supreme Court appoints Vinod Rai as new BCCI head; Ramachandra Guha, Diana Edulji, Vikram Limaye in panel

The Supreme Court of India on Monday appointed the four administrators that will now lead the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) panel. The panel includes former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India Vinod Rai, Indian historian Ramachandra Guha, former Indian women’s test cricketer Diana Edulji and IDFC CEO & MD Vikram Limaye. The apex court declined the Centre’s request to appoint Secretary of Sports Ministry as the member of the committee. In its earlier judgement, the SC had debarred ministers and government servants from holding any position in the office BCCI.
The names that have been announced by India’s apex court will now take control of the functioning of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and will oversee the implementation of Justice (Rtd) Lodha Committee proposals.
BCCI’s Amitabh Chaudhary along with the newly appointed BCCI administrator Vikram Limaye will represent the board at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in first week of February 2017.

Eternal Ltd, formerly known as Zomato, has been served with three orders by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) department, raising a demand of more than ₹40 crore. The orders, issued by the Joint Commissioner (Appeals)-4, Bengaluru, cover the period between July 2017 and March 2020.
According to the company’s regulatory filing late on Monday, the confirmed demand comprises GST of ₹17.19 crore, interest of ₹21.42 crore, and a penalty of ₹1.71 crore.

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday searched the premises of former minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and others as part of a money laundering probe linked to an alleged scam in health infrastructure projects during the previous AAP government in Delhi, official sources said.
At least 13 locations, including those of some private contractors and commercial real estate developers, in the National Capital Region are being searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday flagged off 'e-VITARA', Suzuki's first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), at the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad.
The Made-in-India BEVs will be exported to more than a hundred countries, including advanced markets such as Europe and Japan, making India a global manufacturing hub for Suzuki's electric vehicles.

The Department of Homeland Security released a draft notice on Monday, signalling the White House’s intent to move forward with its plan of levying additional tariffs on India as Trump tries to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday asserted that he was "not afraid" of an FIR lodged in BJP-ruled Maharashtra, over his social media post about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and he will "continue to speak the truth".
Yadav has been booked in Gadchiroli district for a post on his X handle, ahead of the PM's tour of Bihar on Friday, in which he had alleged that Modi's promises to the people were a "jumla" (rhetoric).
