Idea stock tumbles to 52-week low on disappointing Q1 show

The telecom major reported a decline of 74% y-o-y in its net profit at Rs 217 crore in the June quarter. During the quarter, revenues grew by around 8% and total expenditure grew by 15% at R9,486.6 crore and R8,331.5 crore, respectively.
The BSE Telecom Index ended Tuesday’s trading session at 1278.59, down 1.15% or 14.85 points. Shares of Tata Communications and Reliance Communication declined between 2% and 3%. Shares of Bharti Airtel were down by 0.87% to close at Rs 348.85. The BSE Telecom Index has fallen 10.26% so far in 2016, shares of Idea fell 32.4% during the same period. On the other hand, shares of Bharti Airtel rose 2.65%.
Analysts at CLSA wrote recently that ahead of Reliance Jio’s entry, the focus of incumbent mobile operators on content offering has intensified.

All flights, 32 in total, operating out of Visakhapatnam Airport were cancelled on Tuesday owing to the severe cyclonic storm 'Montha', said an official.
Visakhapatnam Airport Director N Purushottam said two Air India Express flights were cancelled on October 27.
"Actually, we are operating 30 to 32 movements (flights) daily, domestic as well as international. Today, all those flights are cancelled," Purushottam told PTI.

Following the announcement of the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, JDU MP Sanjay Jha on Tuesday took a veiled dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', accusing him of engaging in politics in the name of the SIR exercise.
Jha questioned the absence of Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Such a large procession was held in Bihar regarding SIR. The leader who led the procession has been missing for two months. No one knows where he is. He had nothing to do with Bihar. He simply played politics and left."

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russia’s Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC-UAC) to produce the SJ-100 civil commuter aircraft. The agreement was signed in Moscow on Monday.
The SJ-100 is a twin-engine, narrow-body aircraft designed for short-haul flights.

Jana Small Finance Bank (SFB) on Tuesday said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has returned its application seeking voluntary transition into a universal bank due to non-fulfilment of the criteria prescribed by the central bank.
Jana SFB had applied for transition into a universal bank earlier this year (FY26), after it closed the financial year 2025 (FY25) with gross non-performing assets (NPAs) and net NPA ratio of below 3 per cent and 1 per cent respectively for two consecutive years.
